DENVER — The second annual Jazz Roots series in Five Points will continue next weekend.
Festivities in the Denver neighborhood are scheduled to go from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb, 24. The first day of the festivities was on Saturday, Feb. 17.
The event honors the jazz and cultural history in the neighborhood known as the "Harlem of the West."
"In the 1930s to 1950s, this vibrant district played host to some of the greatest jazz musicians of the era," according to the Five Points Business Improvement District's website. "Today, the very buildings that witnessed these iconic performances still stand tall, echoing the melodies of the past. Jazz Roots serves as a tribute to this enduring history, honoring the cultural contributions of the Black community and their indelible impact on American history at large."
