COLORADO, USA — Easter weekend brings several annual events back to Colorado as well as some new shows and exhibitions.

Dozens of Easter egg hunts are scheduled across the state and the annual Red Rocks sunrise service turns 77 years old.

Shen Yun, Disney on Ice, Paranormal Cirque, Jurassic Quest and the popular Sneaker Con are back in Colorado and the Avalanche, Nuggets and Rapids have home games.

COLORADO — Easter arrives Sunday and dozens of Easter egg hunts are planned across the Centennial State, from Pueblo to Fort Collins, Grand Junction to Aurora. Here's a list of some of the Easter egg hunts we've found across Colorado. Don't forget to bring a bucket or basket.

Easter Sunrise Service

MORRISON — The 77th annual Red Rocks Easter Sunday Service returns this Easter weekend. Thousands will gather at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sunday for an outdoor church service to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The service is free and open to the public. You do not need to reserve a seat to attend the service as general seating and parking are available on a first-come basis.

Red Rocks opening weekend

DENVER — There is no better venue for live music in the country than Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Owned and operated by the City of Denver, the concert venue at Red Rocks Park has been home to some of the most iconic concerts in history, from artists such as The Beatles, U2, and Sting.

The 2024 concert season kicks off this weekend. Electronic dance music producer Boogie T opens the concert schedule Saturday night. The 6 p.m. show features support from TRUTH, Boogie T.rio, Break Science, DistinctMotive, and Skellytn.

Shen Yun

DENVER — Experience a lost culture through the breathtaking art of classical Chinese dance, and see legends come to life. Award-winning dance company Shen Yun returns to the Mile High City this weekend with its unique blend of colorful costuming, high-tech backdrops and live orchestra. Shen Yun has six performances scheduled from Friday through Wednesday, April 3, at the Buell Theatre.

Disney on Ice

DENVER — Disney magic arrives in Denver this weekend with "Disney on Ice: Mickey's Search Party." The family-friendly show brings Disney stories to life through world-class ice skating. "Mickey's Search Party" features characters from "Toy Story," "Coco," "Moana," "Frozen," "Aladdin" and more. Disney on Ice plays the Denver Coliseum for six performances Thursday to Sunday. Jurassic Quest

COLORADO SPRINGS — America’s biggest dinosaur event Jurassic Quest comes to the Colorado Springs Event Center starting this Friday. Guests will walk through the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic periods with true-to-life-size dinosaurs, from the very small to gigantic. Jurassic Quest has over 80 dinosaurs that roar, move and some even walk around. The event also offers a dinosaur petting zoo, dino science stations, fossil area, dinosaur rides and photo ops. Jurassic Quest will be open in Colorado Springs from Friday to Sunday. For tickets, head to JurassicQuest.com.

Sneaker Con

DENVER — Sneaker Con returns to the Colorado Convention Center on Saturday. Now in its 15th year, the show features more than 300 vendors offering rare collectibles and the latest streetwear. Sneaker lovers can buy, sell, and trade sought-after kicks. Sneaker Con runs Saturday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are sold at AXS.com.

Paranormal Cirque

AURORA — Paranormal Cirque is coming to Town Center at Aurora from Thursday through Sunday. Paranormal Cirque will be under the Big Top and will expose audiences to a unique creation of combined theatre, circus, and cabaret with a new European style flare. Tickets can be purchased starting at $15 depending on availability. Restricted – under 18 requires accompanying parent or guardian. This show has adult language and material.

Seven Falls

Seven Falls

COLORADO SPRINGS — “The Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado” is opening once again. The Broadmoor Seven Falls opens for its 141st season on Friday. The Colorado Springs waterfall will initially be open Friday to Monday with expanded operations coming later in the spring. With a series of seven cascading waterfalls and a total height of 181 feet, visitors can view Seven Falls from the top of a 224-step staircase or from the Eagle’s Nest viewing platform accessible by elevator.

Collaboration Fest 

WESTMINSTER — One of Denver's top beer festivals returns Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at The Westin Westminster. Collaboration Beer Fest sees members of the Colorado Brewers Guild team up with brewers near and far while letting their imaginations run wild. Organizers said brewery collaborations showcase each brewer’s distinct brewing methods, while highlighting the cooperative nature of the Colorado craft beer scene. Collaboration Fest tickets are on sale online here.

Los Angeles FC vs. Colorado Rapids

COMMERCE CITY — The Colorado Rapids are back at home at Dick's Sporting Goods Park this weekend. The Rapids meet the Los Angeles Football Club at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for $20 at Ticketmaster.com to see the Major League Soccer clubs in action.

Timberwolves/Cavaliers vs. Denver Nuggets

DENVER — The Denver Nuggets are in the middle of a long homestand in the Mile High City. The NBA's best team hosts the talented Minnesota Timberwolves at 7 p.m. Friday and the Cleveland Cavaliers at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ball Arena.

Rangers/Predators vs. Colorado Avalanche

DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche are also at Ball Arena twice this Easter weekend. The puck drops between the Avs and the New York Rangers at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Avalanche will then play a 4 p.m. afternoon game Saturday against the Nashville Predators.

Neon Lights with Jennifer Holliday

DENVER — The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus is performing "Neon Lights," a tribute to Broadway, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Friday and Saturday. More than 150 voices will be joined by special guest artist, Tony- and Grammy-award winner Jennifer Holliday. Holliday gained fame for her role as Effie White in the original Broadway musical "Dreamgirls." Ticket prices start at $25 and are on sale now at AXS.

TheBigWonderful at Winter Park

WINTER PARK — The 6th annual TheBigWonderful at Winter Park returns Saturday for a day of BEER FEST, Bluegrass & BAZAAR. TheBigWonderful will feature more than 15 local breweries serving unlimited samples. There will also be live bluegrass music, and more than 40 Colorado makers featuring a wide range of outdoor apparel, locally-made jewelry and unique gifts.

The Music Man

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Cultural Center and Performance Now Theatre Company present Meredith Willson’s six-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy “The Music Man.” The musical comedy follows a fast-talking traveling salesman as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize, even though he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. Performances of “The Music Man” are offered on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. “The Music Man” plays the Lakewood Cultural Center through Sunday, April 7.

The Wizard of Oz

EVERGREEN — Ovation West Performing Arts has opened its new production of "The Wizard of Oz." A retelling of everyone's favorite classic movie, the new production is directed by Tim Kennedy and will be performed Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Sunday, April 7, at Center Stage in Evergreen. Tickets are on sale at OvationWest.org.

Noises Off

ARVADA — The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities' final production of the season is the comedy "Noises Off." Get ready for barely-controlled chaos and flying sardines in this play that takes a trip behind-the-scenes of a flop of a play and shows what happens when everything that can go wrong does. "Noises Off" plays the Main Stage Theatre through May 5.

The Improvised Shakespeare Company

DENVER — The Improvised Shakespeare Company is back at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts' Garner Galleria Theatre. Each night, the company will create a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before the audience's eyes. The evening of hilarious off-the-cuff comedy uses the language and themes of William Shakespeare, but with no planning, rehearsal or script. Will the play turn out to be a tragedy, comedy or history? Even the actors aren't sure. Tickets for the company's engagement, which runs through Sunday, April 28, are sold at DenverCenter.org.

Orcas: Our Shared Future

DENVER — The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has opened its newest temporary exhibition: "Orcas: Our Share Future." The exhibition traces the evolution of our beliefs about orcas, from fear to admiration and awe, as we discover their intelligence and complex social structures. At the exhibition, visitors will see a life-sized replica of an orca family, inviting guests to witness their harmonies in an immersive underwater environment. Guests will also learn about the Indigenous peoples of North America’s Northwest Coast, whose respect for orcas is reflected in their art and traditions.

Cities of the Future

DENVER — “Cities of the Future” is the newest film to open at the giant screen Infinity Theater at Denver Museum of Nature & Science. “Cities of the Future” invites viewers into a new world of innovation and exploration to address the challenges of a changing planet. The film highlights technological breakthroughs such as electric autonomous vehicles and aerial highways, solar energy beamed down from space and smart buildings and greener infrastructure. Narrated by John Krasinski, “Cities of the Future” will energize kids and adults to think about engineering as a way to help the world.

"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire"

Movies this weekend

Ghost busting is still a good business. “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” collected $45.2 million last weekend.

The No. 2 spot went to “Dune: Part Two,” which continues to hold well. The Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi sequel starring Timothée Chalamet has made $233.4 million in North America.
