Looks like we definitely won't be seeing Bethany Hamilton on the 2016 ESPY Awards stage on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old professional surfer has chosen to not be nominated for the Best Female Athlete With a Disability award this year, which she was previously up for. Hamilton was announced as a nominee in a press release along with marathon racer Tatyana McFadden, volleyball player Heather Erickson, cross-country skier Oksana Masters, and cyclist Shawn Morelli, though her name is no longer included in the voting section on the website.
"At Bethany's request she has been removed from the category," the ESPYs said in a statement to ET.
ET has reached out to Hamilton for comment.
However, Hamilton is already an ESPY winner. In 2004, she won the Best Comeback Athlete award after she famously survived a shark attack in 2003 when she was 13 years old, in which her left arm was bitten off. Her 2004 autobiography, Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board, was eventually adapted into a feature film -- 2011's Soul Surfer -- starring Carrie Underwood, Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid, and former Carrie Diaries actress AnnaSophia Robb as Hamilton.
Hamilton and her husband, former youth minister Adam Dirks, welcomed their first child together -- son Tobias -- last June. In 2014, she and Dirks competed on The Amazing Race.

"Really, we handled it super well," Dirks told ET in September 2014 about their experience on the stressful show. "Part of who we are is our relationship with Christ, and he gives us a heart of forgiveness."
