Grey's Anatomy closed out its season 12 run with a maybe wedding, a dangerous home birth and a surprising marriage twist, but it was the final moment that will lead to big ramifications next season.

After helping Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) get her mind right about marrying Owen (Kevin McKidd), Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) took her rightful place as the maid of honor next to her sister, Maggie (Kelly McCreary). Meredith catches the eye of Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson), a fellow Grey Sloan doctor -- whom she recently slept with "four times in one night" -- during the ceremony, hinting that they may finally go to the next level.

That is, until Maggie -- whose crush on Riggs has been under wraps for the back half of the season -- ruined their blissful moment when she made a surprising admission to Meredith about the handsome doc.

"I like him," Maggie says, with a goofy smile.

"Who?" Meredith asks, not putting two and two together just yet.

"Riggs. I really like him. I think he likes me," Maggie reveals.

Earlier in the episode, it seemed like Meredith and Riggs were working their way to becoming more official (after all, they're "friends who maybe have sex"), flirting their way into each other's hearts in one of the hospital's unglamourous X-ray rooms. But that looks like it won't be the case after all, with Maggie's public pronouncement complicating matters.

But some viewers noticed a potential connection between Maggie and Riggs, with one writing in April: "Maggie deserves to be with someone who is mature enough to handle their relationship, and Riggs needs someone with a big heart -- which Maggie has."

• April's Baby Watch. April (Sarah Drew) is forced to have her baby via C-section (and without anaesthesia) on a table in Meredith's kitchen because her baby is in breech. Ben (Jason George), who had a pregnant woman and her child die after a botched C-section, hesitantly completes the procedure. No worries here, though: The baby is healthy and April ends up being OK!

Someone's Secretly Married. Jo (Camilla Luddington) drowns in her sorrows after telling Alex (Justin Chambers) that she can't marry him. Why? Because she's already married, a bombshell she drunkenly drops on DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). When DeLuca does the good deed and tries to help a wasted Jo get to bed, Alex catches them in a compromising position (though nothing happened) and proceeds to beat DeLuca to a pulp.

Are Arizona and Callie on Good Terms? Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) make up and decide to do this co-parenting thing after all.

Do Amelia and Owen Get Married? Amelia continues to have doubts about marrying "Cristina's husband" Owen and even runs away at one point. But she comes back in the nick of time and walks down the aisle, where she and Owen presumably say "I do." (Guess we'll find out in September!)
