DENVER — Lauren Scafidi is a Reporter at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado.
She joined the 9NEWS family in September 2023.
Lauren's journalism career started at Northern Michigan's news leader, 9&10 News. She started reporting in 2017 and helped start a lifestyle show new to the station and market in 2018, and worked her way to the anchor chair later that year.
She earned awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for Best Reporter, Best Anchor and Best Feature story. While anchoring the market's No. 1 morning show, Lauren had a weekly segment called "Inside The Kitchen," highlighting the people and dishes behind the area's most successful restaurants. She also started a weekly podcast, "We're Offscript," featuring exclusive interviews with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Good Morning America's Ginger Zee, four-time Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty, and more.
Lauren grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While there, she served as the President of the Society of Professional Journalists, helped start the University's first morning show, "Good Morning Illini," hosted a radio show on WPGU 107.1 FM, and broke stories on the front page of the school newspaper "The Daily Illini," among other roles.
When Lauren is not at work, you can catch her teaching a hot yoga or spin class, going on a run, trying to golf (the six-year journey is still a work in progress), or looking for a new trail to hike. Lauren feels passionately about serving the community. Lauren has served on executive boards and volunteered for Make-A-Wish, March of Dimes, and D.A.R.E.
Lauren would love to connect with you! You can send her a story idea (or a cute picture of your dog) via email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. She looks forward to hearing from you!
