DENVER — Janelle Finch is a Reporter at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado.
Janelle joined 9NEWS in December 2023, after two years reporting for 9NEWS' sister-station, KREM 2 News, in Spokane, Washington.
During her time in Spokane, Janelle covered developments in Washington's largest homeless encampment, devastating wildfires, growth in the Pacific Northwest and several national-level news stories. Most notably in her early career, she was the first reporter on scene at the home where four University of Idaho students were murdered November 2022. She was one of the first people to speak to affected family members and share the stories of their loved ones, following the tragedy.
Being from Chicago, living in Spokane was Janelle's first time living amongst mountain views. She wasn't ready to go back to the flat lands of the Midwest, so she set her sights on Denver, with plenty of mountains and city-life activities.
Janelle isn't new to the world of NBC broadcasting. Her senior year of college at the University of Missouri-Columbia (M-I-Z!), she simultaneously reported for NBC-affiliate KOMU 8 News and worked on CNBC's Markets and Politics team as a remote, digital video intern.
When Janelle isn't on-screen, she can be found watching some sort of reality competition show on TV, scrolling through her phone for her next Denver dinner spot, searching for the best slope to check 'learn how to snowboard' off her bucket list or sipping her way through coffee shops, trying to fill the caffeine-shaped hole Washington left in her heart.
