Anne Herbst is the Director of Visual Journalism at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado.
What does that mean? She's not quite sure, but she'll tell you she has one of the best jobs in the newsroom.
Anne does a little bit of everything—she shoots, writes, and edits mostly human interest stories for 9NEWS. After many years in the news business, she's happy to show viewers the lighter side of our amazing state.
Speaking of our amazing state, Anne moved to Colorado from Wisconsin in 2002, to go to graduate school at CU-Boulder. It was there she changed her master's from print to broadcast journalism, after an internship at 9NEWS. Anne has spent most of her professional career in Denver. In fact, this is her second stint at 9NEWS—and she's grateful to be back to help interrupt the newsroom with her obnoxiously loud laugh.
During her career, Anne has been honored with four national Edward R. Murrow awards, dozens of Heartland Emmys, and was runner up for National Press Photographer of the Year. Most of her awards are the result of working at 9NEWS with some of the best in the business.
When she's not travelling the state telling stories, Anne and her husband Steve are either hiking (her favorite trails are in the San Juans), skiing or drinking Colorado craft beer. Her favorite word is rad, and she's determined to bring it back.
