From breaking news to feature stores, TaRhonda Thomas does it all, as a member of the 9NEWS morning show team and the co-anchor of 9NEWS midday shows.
She came to Denver in 2007 after being an anchor and reporter at NBC12 in Richmond, Virginia. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native began her career at KWBJ-TV in Morgan City, La. She also reported and anchored at KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs.
She has been named "Broadcast Journalist of the Year," by the Colorado Association of Black Journalists. In 2009 she won her first Emmy award for political reporting. And, in the past three years, she's beaten out journalists from across the country to win five awards from the National Association of Black Journalists.
In 2013, she earned her Master's Degree in Media, Film and Journalism Studies from the University of Denver.
TaRhonda is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She enjoys going back home to visit her parents. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. When she's not waking up at 2 a.m. to go to work, TaRhonda enjoys reading, shopping, exercising and spending time with her husband and three children.
