9Wants to Know is all about asking the questions everyone wants answered. I help people who have nowhere else to turn. I track down the truth and ferret out corruption. My greatest privilege is being a voice for people who feel powerless in our community, like disabled veterans who can't get timely medical appointments.
Since I started at 9NEWS in 2012, I've been nominated for six Emmy awards. I was a finalist for an Investigative Reporters & Editors Award for a story about football helmet safety. I also was a runner-up in the Westword's best TV hair contest.
If I have a familiar face, maybe you've seen me at a former station. Most likely, it's KPNX-TV in Phoenix, AZ. I worked there for 8 years. In Phoenix, I fought for homeowners wronged by the big banks and veterans wronged by the federal government. I also faced one of my biggest fears: being stung by a scorpion. Ouch!
Before that, I worked in Houston, TX; Battle Creek, MI; Champaign, IL; and Topeka, KS. I'm a proud graduate of Northwestern University, where I picked up a passion for the Chicago Cubs.
As a reporter, I enjoy writing what I call the "first draft of history". I have covered President Obama's inauguration, and I was one of the first reporters on the scene of the Space Shuttle Columbia crash. I've flown a fighter plane, and I've searched for drug smugglers in the desert. I even interviewed a talking pig.
I am married to a former TV news photographer who now tells the inspiring stories of kids succeeding in school and life. We have a 5-year-old son. We take adventurous trips with my two terrific (and brave) stepdaughters. Let me know your favorite place to explore in Colorado.
