Is it possible to be in love with a place you've never truly experienced?
For me, that's Denver.
A water-lover from West Michigan, I never thought I could live away from the Great Lakes. That is until I visited Colorado and fell in love with the spectacular mountain-views, the active lifestyle, the energy of the city and of course, the people.
To be honest, it's really the people that draw me in to new places. They are the reason I got into this business. I truly believe that everyone has a story to tell, and I feel it is a privilege to share their stories, to give a voice to those who otherwise wouldn't have the chance to share it. I can't imagine a better place to be than here in Denver, alongside the talented journalists at 9NEWS.
I currently anchor the 5, 9 and 10 p.m. weekend newscasts with Cheryl Preheim.
I began my career in broadcasting in Grand Rapids, Mich after I graduated from Hope College where I received a Bachelors degree in Communications and Creative Writing. On graduation day, I was hired as the new host of the local-lifestyle show "Take Five & Co." on WZZM 13, where I was able to display my love for current events, community happenings and everything fitness and fashion related.
Two years later, I moved across the hall to the news department where I continued my role as a full-time Multimedia Journalist-shooting, writing and editing daily stories. Six months later, I took on the role of lead morning reporter for the weekday morning news team.
In 2011, I was ready to explore! I moved to Charlotte, N.C. and became a host for Fox News Rising, a local-lifestyle four-hour morning show. It was then-those crazy 2 a.m. wake-up calls, that my undeniable coffee addiction began!
In May 2013, I became the anchor of the 10 p.m. news where I had the chance to interview Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney and cover the Democratic National Convention as well as the arrest and resignation of Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon
While I love the news, I also love being apart of the community! I have a special place in my heart for the Special Olympics, Girls On The Run, the list goes on.
In my spare time I enjoy running, competing in triathlons, hiking, traveling, boating on Lake Michigan, country music, and spending time with my friends, family and labradoodle, Bella.
If you see me out and about, please say 'Hey!" Thanks for the warm welcome to the Mile High City. I'm stoked to be here!
