DENVER — Another hour of local news will be on your television in two weeks.
Starting Monday, Sept. 9, 9NEWS will launch a 3 p.m. newscast.
The new hour-long show will be anchored by Alexandra Lewis, who currently anchors 9NEWS at 9 p.m., and Sam Schacher, host and managing editor of Daily Blast Live.
Before joining 9NEWS in 2019, Lewis was an anchor at KCPQ in Seattle, WA, with previous stints in Houston, TX, Dayton, OH and Lafayette, LA. During her time at 9NEWS, she’s covered major events, including the pandemic, wildfires, and the Elijah McClain trial.
Prior to her role at Daily Blast Live, Schacher worked as a broadcast journalist at CNN and HLN, in addition to writing for HuffPost.
Kathy Sabine, chief meteorologist of the 9NEWS Weather Impact Team, will also be part of the 3 p.m. broadcast.
The rest of the afternoon and evening lineup will remain the same, giving viewers a three-and-a-half hour block of local and national news each weekday:
- 3:00 p.m. - 9NEWS at 3 p.m.
- 4:00 p.m. - 9NEWS at 4 p.m.
- 5:00 p.m. - 9NEWS at 5 p.m.
- 5:30 p.m. - Nightly News with Lester Holt
- 6:00 p.m. - NEXT with Kyle Clark
“Being here for the people of Colorado an hour earlier allows us to provide more news and information that impacts them, especially in breaking news situations or severe weather events,” said 9NEWS news director Linda Kicak. “It’s our job to show up for Coloradans, and this new 3 p.m. newscast is an additional way to do that.”
Daily Blast Live's final episode is airing on Sept. 6.
