Earthquake rattles residents of Eagle County

An earthquake was reported Tuesday morning in Eagle County, Colorado.

GYPSUM, Colo. — A small earthquake struck early Tuesday morning near the town of Gypsum in Eagle County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake hit just before 8 a.m. Tuesday about 3.1 miles east and south of Gypsum. It had a magnitude of 2.7, according to the USGS.

It was a relatively weak quake, according to the data on the USGS website and any shaking that was felt would have been light.

Given the size of the quake, no damage or very minimal damage is expected, the USGS website said.
