COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that forced the closure of Interstate 270 at Vasquez Boulevard Thursday morning has been recovered, according to Commerce City police, and the driver has been identified.

If it's unclear that person will face charges in the crash, which left a pedestrian dead. The victim's identity was not released, and all Commerce City police could say was that he is a man.

The crash happened on westbound I-270 just before 4:15 a.m. Thursday. First responders arrived after there was a report of a body in the road, according to Commerce City police.

Officers have determined the pedestrian was struck by at least one vehicle that was driving westbound in the 4200 block of I-270. The vehicle that hit the victim did not stay at the scene, the release said. Police also indicated it was possible that the victim was hit by more than one vehicle.

Westbound I-270 at the Interstate 70/I-270 interchange, including the on-ramps to westbound I-270 from Quebec Street and northbound/southbound Highway 85 (Vasquez Boulevard), were closed while the crash was being investigated.
