ARAPAHOE BASIN — Snowy peaks and cool winds at 10,780 feet have started to pick up at Arapahoe Basin along with snowmaking efforts from Bill LeClair and his team.

They’re racing to set up a snowmaking system knowing they could get the chance to make snow for the first time this season any day now.

“We could have possibly 11 hours of snowmaking production,” LeClair said.

Water hoses have been set up and 16 snow guns are in place that are ready to start covering the runs with man-made snow.

“We tested lines, tested equipment to see if all the stars line up,” LeClair said.

At the same time, Arapahoe Basin Marketing and Communications Manager Adrienne Saia Isaac says the ski area is also installing the new Beavers Chairlift.

“It will be servicing intermediate and expert terrain in our new terrain, the Beavers,” Isaac said.

People might have to wait a while to get a turn on that new lift, but thanks to better weather along with LeClair’s team, the ski season at Arapahoe Basin could be starting soon.

“It's right around the corner, it’s coming up quick,” LeClair said. “When people drive by and see white its game on.”
