Internet declares Avs goalie as owner of Nashville Predators

Someone logged on to Wikipedia and edited Hammond's entry to read "Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender and current owner of the Nashville Predators."

DENVER – You could say Colorado Avalanche goaltender Andrew Hammond owned the Nashville Predators in Game 5 of their first round playoff series Friday night in Nashville.

And for a few moments Saturday morning, he actually did, according to the internet.

Someone logged on to Wikipedia and edited Hammond’s entry to read “Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender and current owner of the Nashville Predators.”

This also temporarily created an entry under the Nashville Predators page listing Hammond as the owner in a section with information about the team.

The Predators are actually owned by a company called Predators Holdings, LLC.

Hammond stopped 44 of 45 shots in Friday’s game, tying a franchise record for the Avalanche currently held by Patrick Roy. The Avalanche beat the Predators to stay alive in the series and force a Game 6 in Denver.

Nicknamed “The Hamburglar,” Hammond is the Avalanche’s third string goalie. He got the start in Game 5 after Jonathan Bernier was injured in Game 4. Starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov was injured near the end of the regular season and is out for the remainder of the season.
