Tire slams into windshield and narrowly misses a pregnant woman

Behind the large hole in the windshield of a pickup truck is where a pregnant woman was sitting when a wheel came off a trailer and slammed into the glass.

Over the last 8 and a half months, the Damiano family has eaten healthy and done everything in their power to keep their unborn son safe.

"No skydiving or roller coasters," explained Tiffany Damiano.

"No snowboarding for her this season," said her husband, Shawn.

Their baby boy is due April 14, but on Sunday, Shawn and Tiffany learned that despite their best efforts, some things are beyond their control.

They were driving home from Target after shopping for nursery decorations.

“The vehicle in front of us lost a tire to its trailer, which immediately ricocheted off the median and back into our windshield, just narrowly missing tiffany," said Shawn.

He saw the wheel coming and swerved in time so it never went inside the car.

"I'm always complaining about his driving," Tiffany said laughing. "But I won't complain anymore."

"I feel like you’re looking at two lottery winners right now except our jackpot is keeping what we have," Shawn said. "I still have her. We still have our son and I couldn't ask for more.”

Tiffany walked away with scratches. The hospital staff told them their baby was the happiest on the floor.

"Which makes me worried that he's a thrill seeker," Tiffany said.

The tired hit just below a visor with a medallion from Tiffany's mom that said, "This vehicle is guided by God."

The Damianos don't know what to think of that, but whether it was divine intervention or not, they say the takeaway is to always pay attention to the road.
