Thousands in Denver will participate in a “March for Our Lives” Rally demanding action on gun violence this Saturday at Civic Center Park.
The march will be one of more than 800 taking place around the world.
According to the event’s Facebook page, more than 10,000 people have confirmed they will attend. 26,000 said they are interested in attending.
Survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre in Parkland, Florida started the movement, hoping to convince lawmakers to take steps towards safer schools.
“Not one more. We cannot allow one more child to be shot at school,” the “March for Our Lives-Colorado” Facebook event page said. “We cannot allow one more teacher to make a choice to jump in front of a firing assault rifle to save the lives of students. We cannot allow one more family to wait for a call or text that never comes. Our schools are unsafe. Our children and teachers are dying. We must make it our top priority to save these lives.”
Organizers said they are demanding a comprehensive and effective bill that addresses gun issues be brought to congress immediately.
