An investigation is underway after a body was found Tuesday morning in a creek near the base of Vail Ski Resort.
According to a tweet from Vail Police, the body was found in Gore Creek near Lionshead.
The person who died was identified Tuesday afternoon as Maldwyn George Zang, 59.
He was described as a long-time local who is survived by two sisters and one brother. His caused of death remains under investigation.
Vail Police asked that skiers who needed to use the Lionshead access point use Vail Village, Golden Peak or Cascade instead. That access point has since been reopened.
