KUSA — A skydiver found dead Friday morning in a field west of the airport in Longmont has been identified by the Boulder County Coroner's Office as 23-year-old Logan Polfuss of Simla.
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the circumstances leading up to Polfuss' death.
Initial reports said Polfuss was a skydiver, but the FAA later clarified he actually was scheduled to dive in a wingsuit.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said Polfuss' girlfriend first called deputies at around 9 p.m. Thursday and said he hadn’t returned home after a planned 1:15 p.m. jump that day with Mile-Hi Skydiving.
This prompted a search that was focused within a one-mile radius of the airport. Deputies said it lasted until 3 a.m. Friday but was suspended until daylight.
The sheriff’s office said Polfuss was found at around 9 a.m.
No additional information was immediately available.
