UPS announced this week they'll be hiring 1,300 seasonal workers in the Denver area -- that's 175 package handlers, 227 delivery and tractor-trailer drivers and 900 driver-helpers.

To prepare for this year's holiday rush, the parcel service has opened a temporary workspace at four different UPS locations to help with the extra work. In a press release, the company said seasonal work is actually how a little over a third of their full-time employees got their start.

Interested workers can choose between full-time and part-time temporary jobs and work at either the Aurora Hub, Denver Hub (in Commerce City), the Englewood workspace or the Denver International Airport (DIA) facility.

Pay starts for package handlers and driver-helpers at $15. Pay for tractor-trailer drivers begins at $18.75.

The 1,300-job announcement comes a little less than a week since the company announced it would be hiring 100,000 seasonal workers nationwide. While 1,300 temporary workers is a large number, it's actually down from UPS's 2016 need of 1,600 workers in the Denver area.
