Two Longmont teens killed in crash in Pitkin County

The 17-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger died at the scene of the accident. A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured.

PITKIN COUNTY — Two teens from Longmont are dead after a car crash in Pitkin County.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the car was heading south on Highway 133 near Redstone just before noon Friday when it drifted off the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the car to roll over 1/2 times before hitting a tree about 100 feet from the opposite side of the road.

The 17-year-old driver was killed at the scene. 9NEWS is not identifying him because he was a juvenile.

The front-seat passenger, 19-year-old Oscar Gordilla, also died.

A 14-year-old passenger was seriously injured. He was taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs before being flown to Children's Hospital in Aurora.

None of them were wearing seat belts. Alcohol, drugs, and speed are not suspected as factors in the accident.
