DACONO, Colo. — A large smoke plume was visible Thursday for much of the Denver metro area from a fire burning at a junkyard just off of Interstate 25 near E-470.
Mountain View Fire Rescue said firefighters were on scene working to get the fire out. There were two engines, one ladder truck and a fire medic on scene.
No injuries have been reported and the fire, which was called in about 3 p.m., was contained to the salvage yard, according to a spokesperson with Mountain View Fire.
The spokesperson said the fire was burning a mix of things including cars, trailers and car parts.
The smoke was blowing to the east and did not appear to be impacting traffic, from the view of Sky9.
Our Sky9 crew said the fire was burning at Erie Auto Salvage.
Mountain View Fire said smoke could be visible throughout the evening Thursday.
The cause has not been determined.
