Yes, Gov. Hickenlooper's Women's March post used a picture from last year

The governor's office told us the post was meant to commemorate the march's one-year anniversary before the start of this year's march.

A keen-eyed Next viewer wanted some answers about a Facebook post that Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper made about the Women's March on Colorado.

The Facebook post included a picture and said, "Today we stand in awe as tens of thousands come together for the Women's March on Colorado."

The tipster, who calls themselves "Fact-Checking viewer," did a reverse image search and discovered what we discovered. The photo the governor used is a photo that a Denver Post photographer took at last year's women's march.

A few people on Twitter noticed that too.

Before you go shouting "fake news," we did decide to ask the governor what gives. A spokesperson for Hickenlooper told us the intent was to recognize the anniversary of last year's march with a post before people gathered this year. People looking at that post may have been able to infer that by the time. The governor's office made the post at about 8 a.m. on Saturday. The pre-march rally didn't start until 9 a.m., and the march started at 9:30.

The spokesperson admits the post should have been a little clearer in the caption, and should have included a photo credit from 2017. And, guess what -- after we asked about this, the Facebook post does include the date now.
