The craft beer guru of Denver announces he'll step down

The one thing that Kyle Clark wanted to be like when he grew up was Charlie Papazian. No, he's not a news person.

He's a beer guy.

And on Tuesday, the founder of Brewers Association in Denver announced he'll retire in one year's time on his 70th birthday. This comes after four decades of building the craft beer movement from something done by a few bearded guys in flannel to something done by a ton of bearded guys in flannel - and some awesome women.

Papazian literally wrote the book on homebrewing. His motto was simple and elegant: "Relax. Don't worry. Have a homebrew."

It wasn't a guarantee of success but rather an invitation to realize if you spent your day at work or at home - brewing beer - then things couldn't be all that bad.

Everyone who enjoys raising a pint should raise one to Boulder's Charlie Papazian.
