BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Crews with Mountain View Fire Rescue (MVFR) battled a large barn fire near Mead Thursday.
The fire was first reported just before 10 a.m., according to MVFR Public Information Officer Rick Tillery. The barn is located north of Highway 66 near Mead.
Firefighters asked people to avoid using Weld County Road 32 while crews battled the fire.
The barn contained multiple bales of hay and the fire will be active for a long time while crews work to extinguish the flames, Tillery said.
No injuries have been reported from the fire and no animals were reported to be inside the barn at the time of the fire, according to Tillery.
The fire has been contained to the barn and no other structures are threatened.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Crews from Platteville Gilchrest Fire Protection District and Frederick Fire Rescue assisted MVFR on the call.
