A body was found Tuesday in a drained detention pond in Evans -- the same area a search was conducted for a woman reported missing in late 2017.
According to the Evans Police Department, the body was found near the South Platte River during a routine check.
A spokesperson with the Evans Police Department mentioned in a release the area the body was found is the same location an exhaustive search happened months prior for a missing Evans woman. Police have not confirmed the two cases are connected.
Lydia Gutierrez was last seen on Sept. 29 in the area of 37th Street and Highway 85. There has been no sign of her since.
The Weld County Coroners’ Office will perform an autopsy later this week to determine cause of death and the individual's identification.
