School district focuses on mental health 5 years after fatal shooting, recent suicides

Five years after the deadly shooting of Claire Davis at Arapahoe High School and in the wake of several recent student suicides, Littleton Public Schools hosted a small conversation about mental health and public safety.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY — This week marks five years since a student was shot and killed at Arapahoe High School.

In 2013, senior Claire Davis was shot and killed by another classmate, who then took his own life.

Recently, the same school district, Littleton Public Schools, has been dealing with several student suicides. Monday night the district hosted a small round-table conversation about mental health and school safety.

Included in the discussion were school administrators, mental health professionals, current Arapahoe High School students, and the parents of Claire Davis.
