KUSA — Two Mapleton Public Schools announced Tuesday evening that they would be closed Wednesday due to power outages.
Those schools were the Global Campus and Big Picture College and Career Academy.
Near 50,000 Xcel customers were without power Tuesday as nearly hurricane-force wind gusts ripped through the Front Range, knocking over power lines, trees and semi-trucks on major highways.
