Terry Dunford, the man accused of stabbing a mother of four to death, appeared in court on Sunday to hear the charges he now faces.
Dunford is facing charges of first-degree murder in the death of Jeanna Leslie, 49. Investigators say he stabbed her to death inside her apartment in Denver. Her body was found late on the evening of Feb. 13 in her apartment on the 1500 block of Stout Street.
She was officially pronounced dead just after 1 a.m. on Valentine's Day, a warrant said.
During their investigation, officers with the Denver Police Department noticed many of the blood stains around the apartment looked like someone tried to clean them. They found four different knives throughout the house - two with blood on them.
Investigators also found men's clothes in the apartment and a custody report from the Wheat Ridge Police Department on top of a laptop with Dunford's name, date of birth and description.
Sunday, a judge advised Dunford of the charges he faces. The 40-year-old was ordered held without bond.
During the hearing, Dunford's attorney tried to hide his client's face from cameras though pictures of the man were made public when a Crimestoppers alert was issued in the case. He was taken into custody on Feb. 16.
According to an arrest affidavit, police found a Denver Rescue Mission photo ID and a Hawaii driver's license at Leslie's apartment - both belonged to Dunford.
