DENVER — A mother is under investigation for child abuse after she brought her 7-month-old son to the hospital because he wasn't breathing.

Cintrease Dailey, 31, was arrested on Tuesday.

Dailey and another family member brought the baby to the Rose Medical Center emergency room at around 3:45 a.m., according to a release from the Denver Police Department.

He wasn't breathing when they arrived, the release says. Hospital staff tried to revive the boy, but the release says they were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

The Denver Police Department was contacted to investigate the boy's death, "due to suspected trauma to the child."

As a result of that investigation, Dailey was arrested for investigation of child abuse resulting in death. The Denver District Attorney’s Office will make the final determination of what charges, if any, she will ultimately face.

The boy's cause of death has not been released.
