A man in Fort Collins has been arrested for allegedly possessing approximately 700,000 child pornography images, according to a release from the Fort Collins Police Department.
Thomas Christopher Mares, 53, was arrested on March 15, 2018, and is facing charges felony charges of Possession of Child Exploitative Materials.
In July 2017, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted Fort Collins police after they received tips that sexually explicit images of children were detected on Mares' computer by his internet service provider.
During their investigation, Fort Collins Police say they found 676,000 images and 18,000 videos containing child porn on devices they confiscated from Mares.
According to the release, they believe Mares had been collecting pornographic images of children for 10 to 15 years.
Mares is currently in the Larimer County Jail.
