A man is in custody after an apartment fire in Greenwood Village.

According to police, officers received a report of a fire at an apartment on E Prentice Ave, near E Bellevue Ave and DTC Blvd, just before 4 p.m. Saturday. The apartment complex was evacuated, and officers were notified that one person was unaccounted for. They searched the unit again but didn't find him.

South Metro Fire says the fire was controlled by sprinklers and no one was hurt.

Police then learned of another fire on S Yosemite St, north of E Union Ave, and found a shirtless man lighting a bush on fire. They arrested him after a short foot chase, then he was taken to a hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.

Police confirmed that the man was the same person who was unaccounted for at the apartment fire, and suspect that he was the one who started it. His name is not being released. The incident is being investigated by Greenwood Village Police and South Metro Fire Rescue.
